Andrew Robertson, who joined Liverpool from Hull City in the summer transfer window, played well against Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the weekend.
Robertson featured for Liverpool in the Premier League game against Palace at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The 23-year-old left-back started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Reds won 1-0.
Sadio Mane’s goal in the 73rd minute proved to be the difference between the two teams at Anfield.
Robertson played well in what was his Premier League debut for Liverpool, and former Tottenham forward Crooks has included the 23-year-old ex-Dundee United man in his BBC Premier League Team of the Weekend.
Although Crooks has praised the performance of the Scotland international, the former Spurs man asked whether the full-back can defend.
Former Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise has also praised Robertson on Twitter for the Scotsman’s display against Palace.
The 23-year-old joined Premier League club Liverpool from Championship side Hull City in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £10 million.
“It’s been a long time since Liverpool have had a full-back with a left foot like Andrew Robertson,” Crooks wrote about Robertson on BBC Sport. “His crosses, against a Crystal Palace side much better organised and purposeful than they were last week against Huddersfield, reminded me of Germany and Hamburg legend Manny Kaltz.
“Although Kaltz was a right-back, his quality of crossing was legendary and Robertson appears to have that ability.
“The young Scot also looks comfortable on the ball with an eye for goal – a feature clearly demonstrated when he forced Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey to tip the ball over the bar at full stretch.
“The issue is, of course, can the full-back defend? Palace didn’t really test him, but better teams will.”
