Lucas Moura became the first player to score a hat-trick at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium.
Garth Crooks has lauded Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucas Moura for his hat-trick during his side’s 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.
The BBC Sport pundit claimed that Moura has been a ‘bit-part’ player in North London since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain, but he praised him for now having a ‘significant impact’ on matches.
Moura went down in the history books at the weekend because he became the first player to score a hat-trick at Tottenham’s new stadium.
Former Spurs forward Crooks was full of praise for Moura and how he is seemingly growing as a player at Tottenham as he was very impressed with his performance against Huddersfield.
“This lad has been a bit-part player for Spurs since his arrival from PSG two seasons ago but he seems to make a significant impact on the game whenever he plays,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“His role in Tottenham’s demolition of Huddersfield Town was no exception. Moura ripped the Terriers to shreds with a beautifully taken hat-trick.”
Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping Moura can take his recent form into Spurs’ Champions League second-leg tie against Manchester City on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium.
The Lilywhites hold a one-goal lead from the first leg and they will be without their injured star striker Harry Kane, so it increases Moura’s chances of starting.
A draw would be enough for Pochettino’s side to progress to the semi-final where they could be joined by fellow English sides Manchester United and Liverpool, if they see off their respective teams.
