Garth Crooks has included Son Heung-min in his Team of the Week and told BBC Sport that the Tottenham star is the most improved player in the Premier League this season.

Son has really kicked on after a fairly inconsistent first year at White Hart Lane, during which he scored four top flight goals and contributed one assist.

This season has seen the South Korea international prove to Mauricio Pochettino that he is an ideal player to have amongst the squad, scoring 12 times and adding four assists in the league.

And after watching Son score in the 4-0 win over Bournemouth, Crooks suggested that he has come further than any other player in the division this term.

“Tottenham’s win against Bournemouth was a walk in the park and it was Son Heung-min who led the Cherries by the nose. I must say the Lilywhites are playing some wonderful stuff at the moment but Bournemouth didn’t help their cause one little bit,” he told BBC Sport.

“There are a few players in the Tottenham set-up who have distinguished themselves this season but the most improved Premier League player in my opinion is Son. He was brilliant against Bournemouth and seldom lets Mauricio Pochettino down when called upon.”

The goal against the Cherries saw the 24-year-old continue a sensational recent run that has certainly helped bring Spurs right back into the title race.

In his last six appearances in all competitions, he has scored eight goals and contributed two assists, and his versatility has arguably proved particularly important given the recent injury to star striker Harry Kane.

And if he can maintain this current run of form, then it seems likely that Tottenham’s opponents will fear what Son can do just as much as any of his teammates, if they do not already.
