Garth Crooks has written on BBC Sport that Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez seems to have come to terms with playing in hostile environments.

The former Tottenham forward made the comments following Sanchez’s performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The 21-year-old central defender started the London derby and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Spurs won 3-1.

The performance of Sanchez, who joined Tottenham from Ajax in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £42 million and earns £60,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com, impressed Crooks, who has included him in his Team of the Week.

Tottenham central defender Jan Vertonghen also finds himself in Crooks’ Team of the Week for his performance against Chelsea.

Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “Not withstanding the mistake by Hugo Lloris for the first goal, I thought Spurs played brilliantly at the back.

“The performance by Davinson Sanchez was particularly impressive as I have seen him struggle on these big occasions before.

“However he seems to have come to terms with playing in hostile environments while retaining a level of composure.”

Improving and developing

Sanchez arrived at Tottenham in the summer of 2017 with a strong reputation, and there is no doubt that the youngster has developed constantly.

The 21-year-old is one of the best young centre-backs in the Premier League, and working with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is only going to see him improve and progress in the coming years.
