Tottenham Hotspur star won the Golden Boot for the second year in a row.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane celebrates
Former Spurs forward Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport he does not regard Harry Kane as world class.
Kane scored four goals against Leicester in midweek and a further three against Hull yesterday, to take his Premier League tally to a staggering 29 goals in 30 games.
The England striker has now won the Golden Boot for the second year in succession, but Crooks wants to calm the hype around Kane.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane
He said that he simply does not regard him in the same bracket as other top strikers, and will only consider him among the elite when he leads Spurs to silverware.
Crooks said: “I couldn’t believe the headlines granting the player world-class status after his four-goal blitz of Leicester City in midweek. What poppycock!
“The 23-year-old definitely has the potential to be world class, of that I am in no doubt. But not yet.
Robert Lewandowski, Didier Drogba and Thomas Muller have all been, or are, world class but all won trophies to demonstrate the fact.
“Kane would do well to ignore such hollow praise and stick to the task ahead. Make Spurs world class and you will inevitably be world class with them.”

Despite Crooks’ comments, Kane’s figures are hard to argue with.
Kane’s goal return of 29 in 30 matches is outstanding, in the same realm as Lewandowski’s 30 goals in 33 Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich this season.
Tottenham are progressing as a team and edging closer towards winning trophies, finishing in second place in the Premier League this past season.
It is surely only a matter of time before Kane is winning team medals to add to his haul of individual awards.
