Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that Tottenham Hotspur are becoming quite adept at balancing their Champions League and Premier League schedule.

Tottenham remain the only unbeaten side in the Premier League following a 0-0 draw away at Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

It came a few days after Mauricio Pochettino’s side battled to a hard-fought point by holding Bayer Leverkusen to the same scoreline in Germany earlier this week.

Prior to the season starting it was wondered whether Spurs had the squad to challenge for the league title whilst simultaneously proving themselves in the Champions League.

So far Pochettino’s troops are passing such a test, and Crooks told BBC Sport that the Argentine manager has recognised this.

“I can’t help feeling that Tottenham Hotspur, the team and Mauricio Pochettino, are growing simultaneously together, and are coming to terms with the demands of a Champions League season and what it takes to win something at the same time.

“Pochettino has identified the issue but if you want to win things, you have got to come to terms with it. Manchester United did it…”

Tottenham are certainly proving the strength of their squad, given that they remain unbeaten without star striker Harry Kane, but it is still early in the season.

The real challenge is maintaining a Premier League title challenge whilst negotiating tricky knock-out ties in the second half of the season.
