Silva has struggled as Everton manager since taking over at Goodison Park.
Garth Crooks has claimed in his BBC Team of the Week column that it is way too early for Marco Silva to face the sack at Everton, despite suffering another loss to Southampton on Saturday.
A Lucas Digne own goal and an excellent strike from James Ward-Prowse gave the Saints a 2-0 lead in the second half, while Everton mustered only a consolation through Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The defeat to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men has left Everton in 11th place in the Premier League, despite spending around £100million in the summer on the likes of Richarlison, Yerry Mina and Digne.
The Toffees have now lost six of their last 10 Premier League matches, winning only twice and the pressure has been ramped up on former Hull City and Watford manager Silva. But Crooks believes the Portuguese deserves time.
“There are now rumours circulating that Marco Silva is under pressure. Surely not. It’s far too early for that,” Crooks said.
The Telegraph have claimed that the scrutiny has increased on Silva, despite the club’s hierarchy believed to have give him the assurance of time. But Farhad Moshiri said at the AGM the league position: “was not good enough.”
Everton have been particularly leaky at the back, conceding 33 goals – which is more than the likes of Newcastle United, Brighton and Crystal Palace. Without a talismanic striker, they have scored just 34 times.
The Merseyside outfit are next in action on Saturday when they play host to Championship strugglers Millwall in the fourth round of the FA Cup, before taking on Huddersfield, Wolves and Watford in their next three league games.
