Garth Crooks has told his BBC Team of the Week column that Son Heung-min is looking “lethal” again and alongside Harry Kane is “transforming” Tottenham to their former glory. Spurs look good now, to finish fourth.
Son, 29, is back to his best, scoring six goals in his previous three games for Tottenham – previously netting 12 in his first 35. His form has been sensational, profiting with the form of Harry Kane and his creativity.
On Saturday evening, Son scored a sensational hat-trick – and Dejan Kulusevski got the other as Spurs won 4-0. It came on the same weekend that Arsenal, Manchester United and West Ham all lost.
Crooks told his Team of the Week column that it is Son, alongside Kane, that is transforming the Tottenham team under the guidance of Antonio Conte. He thinks the South Korea skipper is becoming lethal at Spurs.
“This was a super show by Spurs and in particular Son Heung-min. The South Korea international is looking lethal in front of goal again. It is also noticeable that when Son scores, Harry Kane tends to be the provider.
“Both players appear to be constantly looking for each other in and around the box these days and it is a feature that has transformed Tottenham’s fortunes,” Ex-Spurs star Crooks said about the £140k-a-week (Spotrac) ace.
Crooks on Son: Tottenham star and Kane are driving Spurs forward
If it was a horse race, Tottenham would be the horse that sits in the middle of the pack, looking for its chance to put the hammer down and overtake the leader. They seem to be that horse, in a round about sort of way.
Tottenham have been struggling all season to put the consistency into their performances and results. Now, the gap has opened up, Arsenal have ran out of stamina and the Tottenham horse has jolted. Fourth is a hurdle away.
