West Ham United picked up a hugely impressive win at the weekend to move further away from the Premier League’s bottom three.

Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that Marko Arnautovic reminds him slightly of Eric Cantona, while he insisted that Manchester United should have signed the West Ham talisman following his performance in the two sides’ meeting at the London Stadium at the weekend.
The Hammers continued their brilliant fightback from their terrible start by beating Jose Mourinho’s men 3-1 on Saturday. They have now collected seven points from a possible nine since losing at home to Wolves. There was also an 8-0 League Cup win in amongst that run for good measure.
Unsurprisingly, one of the key players leading that recovery has been Arnautovic. He scored and provided an assist against Everton and scored a key goal against United at the weekend. And Crooks suggested that he was one player that Mourinho should have looked to bring to Old Trafford in the summer.

“The only other difference between these two mercurial characters is that one played for Manchester United and the other should have done. In the meantime, Arnautovic ripped United’s “fragile” team to shreds.”
And it appears that West Ham did not completely shut the door on the idea of selling the forward, with Sky Sports reporting that he was valued at £50 million. Of course, a move would not take place, and the Hammers will be delighted that it didn’t.

Arnautovic has already scored four times in the Premier League this season. Only four players have scored more, and only one of those men has scored a greater percentage of their team’s goals this term.
West Ham are next in action on Friday when they travel to Brighton, and that game presents an opportunity to move above Manchester United in the table should Manuel Pellegrini’s men win.
