Son Heung-min featured for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that he was impressed with the performance of Son Heung-min for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester City at the weekend.
Son featured for Tottenham in the Premier League game against City at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
The South Korea international, who can play as a winger or as a forward, started the match and played for 89 minutes. The 24-year-old took four shots and created two chances against City.
Former Tottenham forward Crooks was following the game, and he was impressed with the performance of Son.
The Englishman has included the former Bayer Leverkusen star in his BBC Premier League Team of the Weekend.
Crooks has compared Son’s through-ball for Dele Alli’s second goal against City to that one would expect from Real Madrid star Luka Modric or Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
The BBC pundit, though, has criticised the squabble between Son and Tottenham teammate Erik Lamela.
Both the players wanted to take the penalty awarded to Spurs in the second half. In the end, Lamela took the spot kick, but the Argentina international attacker failed to convert it.
“Son is mobile, sees the pass and is capable of playing it,” Crooks wrote on BBC Sport. “The through ball for Dele Alli to score was simply world-class and the sort you would expect from a Luka Modric or an Ivan Rakitic.
“The only flaw in this otherwise superb team performance was that Son and Erik Lamela found themselves squabbling like a couple of schoolchildren in a playground over who was taking the penalty.
“If Spurs have any chance of doing themselves justice in any of the competitions this season, then all their players need to behave in the best interests of the team and not themselves. An unedifying spectacle if ever I saw one.”
Tottenham are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 17 points from seven matches, just a point behind leaders City.
