Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks has compared Raul Jimenez to former PFA Player of the Year winner Andy Gray and club legend John Richards.
Over the weekend, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side booked their place in the semi-final of the FA Cup by beating Manchester United 2-1 on home soil.
The Midlands outfit are in the last four of the world’s oldest club competition for the first time in 21 years, with Jimenez opening the scoring on the night.
Former Tottenham forward Crooks waxed-lyrical about the 27-year-old Benfica loanee and claimed that he is in the same ‘class’ as a couple of high profile figures from the past.
“What a season this lad is having for Wolves,” Crooks told BBC Sport. “The club are currently seventh in the Premier League table and in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
“You would have to go back to Andy Gray and John Richards to have seen days like these. Jimenez is clearly in that class, scoring goals and creating mayhem for the opposition has been the name of his game. The big test for Wolves now is can they keep him or their outstanding manager.”
Following their promotion to the Premier League last summer, Wolves have showcased a no fear attitude and produced a number top quality performances against the Premier League’s top-six.
Jiminez has played a key part in that because of his work rate, his quality on the ball and ability to bring his fellow attackers into the game.
Over the course of the season, he has played 35 matches in all competitions for Nuno’s side, scoring 15 goals and supplying his teammates with seven assists [transfermarkt].
Wolves supporters will be well aware that if he can continue his performances up top then they will finish in the top seven and potentially win the FA Cup.
