Would Arsenal star Mesut Ozil be a success at Tottenham Hotspur?

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil

Garth Crooks has suggested on BBC Sport that Arsenal star Mesut Ozil would be more appreciated at Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Tottenham forward has claimed that Germany international attacking midfielder Ozil does not get the credit he deserves at Arsenal.

Tottenham's Christian Eriksen reacts

“A lot has been said about Mesut Ozil,” Crooks wrote on BBC Sport. “Love him or hate him – and I love him – there is no denying he is a wonderful footballer.

“Is he in the right team? Probably not. A player with his talent would be more appreciated at a club like Tottenham.

“Now at this moment I may have Arsenal fans foaming at the mouth at the very thought of Ozil defecting to White Hart Lane but frankly it is a better fit.”

Ozil is a world-class attacking midfielder and is one of the best players on the planet. The Arsenal star is easily one of the most creative footballers in the Premier League.

The former Real Madrid ace has scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 30 Premier League starts for the North London outfit this season.

The 28-year-old would be a good fit for Tottenham, but do Spurs need him? Probably not, as they have Christian Eriksen, who is younger, more mobile and potentially better.

The 25-year-old Denmark international attacking midfielder has scored eight goals and provided 13 assists in 35 Premier League matches for Spurs so far this season.

Tottenham are set to finish second in the Premier League this season, while Arsenal are fighting for a place in the top four.
