Pundit Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that he felt Swansea City’s Andre Ayew ‘destroyed’ West Ham United alongside brother Jordan Ayew on Saturday afternoon.

The Hammers travelled down to South Wales in search of three points to aid their battle against relegation, but came back empty handed after a disastrous 4-1 defeat at the Liberty Stadium.

Ki Sung-yueng and Mike van der Hoorn struck in the first half to give Swansea a 2-0 lead, before Andy King and Jordan Ayew made it 4-0, with Michail Antonio pulling back a late consolation for West Ham.

The result means Swansea have leapfrogged West Ham in the Premier League table, and the Hammers have been dragged to just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal will be delighted with the result, whilst it will have been even sweeter for Swans forward Andre Ayew, who left West Ham for Swansea on deadline day in January.

The Ghanaian forward had initially starred with Swansea before a 2016 move to West Ham, and his struggles in East London resulted in him heading back to the Liberty Stadium earlier this year.

Ayew was a thorn in West Ham’s side, teeing up the first goal before winning a penalty for the fourth, as he and brother Jordan teamed up to cause mayhem for the West Ham defence.

Now, pundit Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that he felt the Ayew brothers ‘absolutely destroyed’ West Ham, and Andre made the ideal statement against his former club with a superb display.

“If you’re going to make a statement to the club that has just sold you then playing your part in the four-goal demolition of your former employers is the way to do it,” said Crooks. “Andre Ayew and his brother, Jordan, absolutely destroyed West Ham. Their father, the former Marseille and Ghana international, the great Abedi Pele, should be very proud of his boys,” he added.
