Conor Hourihane started for Aston Villa during their high scoring draw against Hull City over the weekend.

Garry Thompson has slated Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane for his ‘shocking’ reaction during his side’s 2-2 draw at home to Hull City on Saturday.
The former Villa striker was eluding to a moment early on in the game when the 27-year-old lost the ball in the middle of the park, which nearly resulted in the away team finding the back of the net.
Hourihane’s reaction to losing possession didn’t sit well with Thompson, who slated the star player as Dean Smith’s side dropped more valuable points in front of their own supporters.
“Hourihane lost the ball after about five minutes,” Thompson told BBC Radio WM. “He was on the floor, he tried to claim for a freekick, his reaction then to try and get the ball was just shocking.
“Luckily, Chester cleared it off the line, but from then everything just went horribly wrong. Villa were 2-0 down [after 37 minutes] and it could have been five.”
Villa have not won a home game since November as they have been involved in a number of high-scoring games, including losing 3-2 to league leaders Leeds United last month.

Nonetheless, over the course of the season, Hourihane has played a deep-lying playmaker role for Villa and a more advanced role, both under the stewardship of Smith and Steve Bruce.
The Republic of Ireland international has played 29 games in all competitions, scoring five goals and supplying seven assists for his teammates.
Hourihane joined the club in January 2017 when he made the switch from then-Championship side Barnsley – he has scored 17 goals from midfield since.
