Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish recently returned from injury.
BBC pundit Garry Thompson has claimed that Aston Villa ace Jack Grealish would be a ‘snip’ at £20 million for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The former Holte End favourite was asked by presenter Paul Franks, ‘If you are a Wolves fan and it was the right price at £20 million, you would have Grealish wouldn’t you?’
He responded to BBC Radio West Midlands by saying: “For £20 million, yes. That is a snip. Potentially, you are buying a kid that if you can get a full season under his belt, he could be a very, very good player.
“He hasn’t made the leap into the Premier League [yet] and played consistently, but for £20 million quid, which is nothing nowadays for Jack Grealish, that’s a snip.”
It is looking highly likely that Villa will miss out on promotion once again as they are currently sitting outside of the play-off places despite thumping Derby County 4-0 last Saturday.
Grealish, who has been on the sidelines with a shin injury since December, returned for that encounter and helped Dean Smith’s side stroll to victory – only the second time they have picked up three points in 2019.
During that match, the 23-year-old scored a stunning volley, with Dean Smith’s side looking a completely different team with the presence of their star man in the middle of the park.
Whether Grealish is good enough to play in the Premier League remains up for debate, but one thing is for sure, he is proving that he is now too good to play in the second tier of English football.
During his career, he has only played a brief number of games in England’s top-flight, but since then he has matured, both on the pitch and off the field of play.
If Villa don’t earn promotion then the club’s supporters will be hoping they can keep hold of Grealish because he increases their chances of winning when he is in the starting XI.
