Leeds United travel to the North East to take on Newcastle United tomorrow night.
Leeds manager Garry Monk
Whites boss Garry Monk spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference, and highlighted how much of an important role the Leeds fans have played in his side’s successful campaign in the Championship this season, as quoted by the Sunderland Echo.
Tomorrow night’s game between Newcastle and Leeds is one of the most highly anticipated clashes of the season so far, with so much riding on the outcome of the result.
The West Yorkshire outfit need to avoid defeat at the very worst, if they are to cement their position inside the top six, whilst the Toon need a victory to all but secure their place inside the automatic promotion spots.
And Monk drew on his side’s fantastic away support as a cause for genuine optimism, as Leeds head into arguably their most important game of the season, as quoted by the Sunderland Echo:
Leeds manager Garry Monk
“Away from home, I have seen them take over a few away grounds and really control it! I don’t think you can take over St James’ Park, but I guarantee you will be hearing our fans. They deserve big games and occasions like this.”
The Whites have earned many plaudits for their solid defensive displays this season, with Monk’s men conceding the third fewest amount of goals in the division.
And they will need to be at their stubborn best at St James’ Park tomorrow, when they come up against the Championship’s most prolific goal scorers.
