Leeds United’s Marcus Antonsson celebrates with team mates after scoring their first goal
Leeds United were defeated in the Championship yesterday – losing 1-0 to Derby County at the iPro Stadium.
But there was no doubt that Garry Monk’s side could have come away from the game with at least a point.
The Yorkshire side came close on a number of occasions. Kyle Bartley hit the post toward the end of the first-half and then, with just moments left in the game, Swedish substitute Marcus Antonsson saw his effort from the edge of the box cannon off the post.

Monk was asked about Antonsson’s effort and his performance by TV Yorkshire after the game and spoke about how fine the margins were in this game:
“Yeah like I said on another day those small margins they go in for you.
“So it is hard to be angry at anything because I think the player’s effort (was good) and on another day we’d be coming away from here talking about another good away performance.”
Leeds manager Garry Monk is sent to the stands
The Swedish striker has scored two goals for the club in 12 games but has not found the net in his last seven appearances – the majority of which have come as a substitute.
The 25-year-old has looked an impressive prospect at times but Leeds fans will be wanting him to have more of a potent impact when coming off of the bench for the club.
Next up for Leeds is Wigan Athletic and the club’s fans will hope Antonsson and co can be more ruthless in front of goal.
