Leeds United are preparing to take on Reading on Saturday.
Leeds manager Garry Monk
Whites boss Garry Monk spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference, and insisted that he has no interest in responding to recent jibes levelled at the club by Reading manager Jaap Stam, as quoted by LUTV.
The Dutchman has criticised Leeds’ so-called ‘defensive’ tactics, whilst Royals striker Yann Kermorgant accused Monk’s men of being a one-man team who are overly reliant on Chris Wood.
The West Yorkshire outfit currently sit in fourth position in the Championship table, two points ahead of fifth placed Reading, and only eight points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.
The two sides are set to meet at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday evening in a game that could have huge ramifications as far as the race for promotion is concerned.
And Monk spoke to reporters, ahead of his side’s trip to Berkshire at the weekend, explaining how the best way to respond to any kind of criticism is by producing the goods on the pitch, as quoted by LUTV:
Leeds United’s manager Garry Monk
“We are not interested in what has been said. We are only focused on ourselves and we try to do our talking on the pitch. We are on a seven game unbeaten run and we want to continue that.”
With just eight games remaining in this year’s campaign, Leeds will surely have to take their unbeaten run from seven to 15 games come May, if they are to have any chance of climbing inside the top two.
And three points at Reading on Saturday will be hugely satisfying for Monk’s men and his team, in more ways than one.
