Garry Monk’s current contract at Leeds United runs out in the summer.
Garry Monk was appointed the Leeds United head coach in the summer of 2016, and his current contract runs out at the end of the season.
Monk has done a wonderful job at Leeds even though the Whites will end the season outside the Championship top six.
The former Swansea City manager has the fans on his side, and the dressing room he has created is very harmonious.
Earlier this week, an online petition was started urging Leeds to hand Monk a new contract. The Sun recently claimed that the 38-year-old may not be handed a new deal.
Monk, though, does not seem to taking it all in his stride and has made a joke about the online petition.
“Maybe my mum has,” Monk jokingly told The Yorkshire Evening Post when asked if he has signed the online petition.
“It’s a great feeling and you can’t deny that. I’m not one that searches for gratitude or a pat on the back but the support’s been incredible. It’s been a pleasure.”
Monk is one of the best young English managers around, and Leeds should do all they can to keep him next season.
If the Englishman is given backing in the summer transfer window and is allowed to bring two or three good players in, then the Whites could be challenging for the playoffs again.
