Leeds United have failed to qualify for the Championship playoffs this season.

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his disappointment at his side’s failure to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

The Whites are seventh in the league table at the moment with 74 points from 45 matches, three points behind Fulham.

The Cottagers, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot, have a superior goal difference, which means that despite one more round of matches left this season, Leeds are not going to end up in the top six.

Leeds fans must be hugely disappointed with the team’s failure to end up in the top six, especially when it looked just a few weeks ago that they would qualify for the playoffs with ease.

The month of April has proved to be very difficult for the West Yorkshire, and their inability to pick up points against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burton Albion have cost them a place in the top six.

Losing at Elland Road to Wolves and going down 2-1 to Burton Albion away from home are the main reasons why the Whites will not get the chance to feature in the playoffs this season.
