The Whites are currently situated in the Championship’s bottom three.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk
Garry Monk has explained to the Yorkshire Evening Post that he is trying to encourage his Leeds United squad to express themselves out on the pitch rather than close up during their poor patch of form.
The Peacocks have begun the new season in disappointing fashion, winning just one of their opening six league games. And ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Blackburn Rovers – who, like United, find themselves in the relegation zone – Monk has suggested that the club’s best chance of getting their season properly off and running will come if they avoid a negative approach during games.

“It hasn’t worked out as much as we would have liked in the other games but results help players express themselves and when you’re not going through a great spell of results, players try and make it a little bit safe or do things safer than normal. It my job to tell them not to worry,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
With players like Pablo Hernandez, Kemar Roofe and Hadi Sacko joining the Whites in the summer, it is fair to say that the current squad boasts the kind of flair going forward that they will need to play the expansive football that Monk is looking for.

And if Monk can instil the confidence in those players to play their natural games, while also getting the defence to support them by keeping the opposition at bay and getting the strikers to back them up by finishing the chances they manage to create, then the side’s confidence will inevitably grow.
And if they can begin to start playing exciting, dynamic football going forward, it may not be too long before the side’s results begin to improve, and Monk’s men begin to ascend up the table.
