Crystal Palace, Southampton and Norwich City have been linked with Birmingham City’s Che Adams.
Birmingham City boss Garry Monk suggests the club could sell Che Adams this summer as reports link the striker with the likes of Southampton, Crystal Palace and Norwich City, Birmingham Mail report.
“We don’t want our best players going anywhere – but football is football, it can happen.,” Monk responded when asked about Che Adams’ future.
“Number one, it has to suit the club. If that type of situation does evolve and it suits the club and it’s the right thing for the club financially then of course that’s how football works.”
A recent report by the London Evening Standard claimed Palace were among those leading the chase for the striker and the Eagles believe a £15 million fee could be enough to sign him this summer.
The Birmingham Mail also list Palace as suitors alongside Southampton and recently promotion Norwich City who will know all about the player’s qualities after netting 22 Championship goals this term.
It has been well documented that Birmingham have struggled financially, and they were handed a nine-point penalty by the Football League for falling foul of Financial Fair Play rules.
Adams represents Birmingham’s biggest asset from a selling point of view. The 22-year-old has bags of potential and over the past 12 months has shown he has the talent to play at a higher level.
Monk will be keen to keep hold of his better players, yet the former Middlesbrough manager’s comments suggests he is a realist and knows keeping Adams at St Andrew’s is likely to be a tough ask.
Norwich may feel they could partner the striker alongside Teemu Pukki next season in the top-flight, while Southampton may be seeking long-term replacements for Shane Long and Charlie Austin.
