The Leeds United manager can better the legends win percentage this weekend.
Garry Monk manager of Leeds United
Garry Monk has performed wonders at Leeds United since taking over at the club in the summer. The former Swansea boss has steadied one of the rockiest ships in the country and is now steering the club toward a serious promotion charge.
His impact is clear to see when considering his win percentage. If Leeds beat Reading tomorrow night, he will have the best win percentage in Leeds United managerial history, just ahead of the great Don Revie.
That fact was put towards the Leeds boss this afternoon, during his press conference ahead of the game.
The forever humble Leeds manager made it clear that there was simply no comparison, telling the Yorkshire Evening Post:
“I don’t think you can put me and Don Revie in the same sentence to be honest with you. But it’s great as it means the club is moving in the right direction.”
There is little doubt that Monk’s answer was correct.
Don Revie
Revie is a Leeds United legend. Monk’s percentage would be over 46 games, Revie’s was after 740.
In those 740 games as Leeds boss he led the club to two First Division titles, four FA Cup finals, a League Cup triumph and the European Cup Winners’ Cup final.
Monk has a long way to go if he is to ever emulate the great Don Revie, but he is going about it the right way for now.
