Garry Monk reportedly needs a striker. Boro should consider making a move for the Bury striker.

Middlesbrough’s new manager Garry Monk is likely to stick to Aitor Karanka’s system of playing with a lone striker.
In fact, Monk himself followed this system at Leeds United, where it proved to be extremely successful. At Leeds, he had Chris Wood upfront, who scored 30 goals in all competitions last season.
According to the Sunday Sun (printed edition), Monk would love to sign Wood from Leeds, but the Yorkshire club is unlikely to sell their prized asset to a Championship rival.
Monk has inherited a squad that lacks a prolific striker. He needs to look towards the market, and may have to peer down the league divisions to pick quality players.

And that is why, Boro should consider making a move for Bury’s highly rated striker James Vaughan.
The 28-year-old striker has enjoyed a superb 2016/17 campaign in his first seasons at Gigg Lane, where he scored 24 goals in 36 league appearances.

According to The Chronicle, Vaughan could be tempted to play in a higher division. He would come at an affordable price as well.
Monk has transformed Wood into a better striker when at Leeds, and there’s no reason to believe that he cannot get the best out of Vaughan.
In recent years, players like Andre Gray, Jamie Vardy and Dele Alli have emerged from from lower leagues to become established Premier League stars.
Monk will be looking to bring in right profile of players to make a stronger unit out of the Boro squad, and signing Vaughan could kickstart a new revolution at the Riverside.
