Leeds United beat Norwich City 3-2 at Carrow Road this afternoon.

Leeds United manager Garry Monk has told BBC Radio Leeds that his side’s improvement is a great sign after their 3-2 away win over Norwich City this afternoon.

Leeds and Norwich played out an entertaining game in the EFL Cup just over a week ago, and today’s meeting between the two sides was arguably even better.

Robbie Brady put Norwich in front as they looked to bounce back from last week’s 5-0 thrashing at Brighton, but Pontus Jansson equalised for Leeds before a bonkers final 20 minutes.

Chris Wood put Leeds in front for the first time on 74 minutes, only for Kyle Lafferty to strike for Norwich in the 88th minute to seemingly earn the Canaries a point – but Ronaldo Vieira popped up to win the game for Leeds in added time.

The result means that Leeds are now in sixth place in the Championship table, occupying a play-off place after a superb run of form under Monk, with three wins in a row and just one defeat in the last six games.

Leeds are really gathering momentum now, and head into the international break in great spirits, with manager Monk beaming at the final whistle tonight as he spoke to BBC Radio Leeds.

Monk raved about his side’s performance against Norwich, revealing that he told his players that the result was a sign of what they are capable of, and that their improvement is great to see.

Monk also discussed Kemar Roofe’s condition after he was taken off on 55 minutes for Hadi Sacko. Monk confirmed that Roofe took a blow to the head and felt sick afterwards, but has been fine in the dressing room after the game.

“I just said to the players there at the end, of course coming to Norwich is a difficult game, but it just shows what we’re capable of with this group,” said Monk. “We’ve come to a very difficult place, with the squad they they have, one of the favourites for the league…I’ve just said to the players, obviously we’re going to keep our feet on the ground, but today shows what we’re capable of. Yes, we need to improve on certain things, and there are definitely some corrections that need to be done, but all in all, in terms of the way the group’s going and how they’re improving all the time, I just said to them there that it’s a great sign to see.”

“With Kemar, he got a clash to the head and felt sick carrying on four or five minutes after that, and it’s the right decision. The welfare of the player is more important. We took him off because he felt sick, which is never a good sign, but he’s fine in the changing room now so he should be alright,” he added.
