Leeds United manager Garry Monk has been quoted by the club’s official Twitter account as saying that Pontus Jansson has recovered from his illness and returned to training today.

The Whites suffered a shock 2-0 home defeat to Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon, with goals from Sean Morrison and Kenneth Zohore handing the visitors a surprise win at Elland Road.

Leeds, once comfortably inside the top six, now lie just four points clear of seventh-placed Norwich City having lost three of the last five Championship games.

Garry Monk needs a win to get the club back on track, and they will be looking to bounce back against a struggling Bristol City side at Elland Road on Tuesday evening.

The Robins have picked up just five points in the last ten Championship games, and remarkably threw away a 3-0 lead at Derby County to pick up a 3-3 draw, meaning Leeds will be favourites to grab the win.

Leeds fans have been concerned about the status of defender Pontus Jansson, after the towering Swedish centre back was ruled out of the defeat against Cardiff through injury.

Jansson’s absence was felt as Cardiff claimed the 2-0 victory, and manager Garry Monk today offered an update on the defender’s health ahead of facing Bristol City.

Monk, as quoted by the Leeds official Twitter account, has revealed that Jansson returned to training today after a throat infection, meaning that Charlie Taylor is the only player out injured for the visit of Bristol City.
