Leeds United manager Garry Monk has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that both Luke Ayling and Chris Wood are back and available to face Queens Park Rangers.

The Whites are back at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, having suffered heartbreak away at Fulham in midweek.

Tom Cairney’s injury-time equaliser handed Fulham a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage after Tim Ream’s early own goal, and Leeds will be glad to be back at home again having won 3-1 away at Birmingham last Friday.

The visitors this weekend are QPR, who beat Leeds 3-0 on the opening day of the season, and Leeds will be able to recall two key player as they look for revenge over the R’s.

Defender Luke Ayling missed Tuesday’s trip to Fulham after the birth of his daughter, whilst star striker Chris Wood was left out of the squad as a precaution.

Ayling has been the unsung hero of the Leeds defence this season, whilst striker Wood his hit 25 goals in 38 appearances this season, making him the key man in Garry Monk’s attack.

Both players were missed on Tuesday, but manager Monk has now told the Yorkshire Evening Post that the duo are fit, back in training, and ready to face QPR this weekend.

Monk also dodged questions about his future again, as he believes it would be ‘selfish’ to discuss his situation, despite his contract being set to expire at the end of the season – though Leeds are thought to have a one-year option on that deal.

“Chris Wood and Luke Ayling are back in training and they are fully fit,” said Monk. “I am not going to talk about that I don’t need to talk about that. That would be selfish of me. When something happens you will be the first to know,” he added when asked about his contract.
