Leeds United beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Elland Road yesterday.

Garry Monk has informed BBC Radio Leeds that he reminded Leeds United’s squad of his demand for style, ahead of their match against Blackburn Rovers yesterday evening.
Leeds have not been as easy on the eye as many were expecting so far this season, with Monk admitting that he has previously sacrificed his demands for passing football to try and get results.
However, against Blackburn, Monk reverted to type – and insisted that his Leeds players needed to be comfortable in possession.

“I talked the players about putting out style on the pitch,” Monk said. “We hadn’t done that enough in the games so far, but for 70 minutes I think you could see that.
“Overall, I thought our sheer will to win the game and the desire to win the game for the fans… we wanted to win the game, and we did that very well.
“When I look at all the games this season I have sacrificed a little bit of style of substance, and that’s not me. I like to play with a certain style, and I pushed that on the players tonight.”
Monk’s teamtalk obviously had the desired impact, as Leeds picked up a crucial 2-1 win over Blackburn.

The Whites went into the game knowing the importance of collecting the three points, and they were made to fight for the victory by Owen Coyle’s side.
Leeds took the lead when Chris Wood hit the back of the net, but they were pegged back when Marvin Emnes hit back.
At that stage it looked as if the points were going to be shared, but a late header from Kyle Bartley provided Leeds with the three points, which has lifted them up to 17th place in the Championship table.
Leeds are next in action when they take on Cardiff City at the weekend.
