Norwich City and Leeds United will face each other in the Championship this weekend.

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has told The Yorkshire Evening Post that Norwich City boss Alex Neil is not under pressure.

Norwich are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

The Canaries are fourth in the league table at the moment with 27 points from 15 matches, seven points behind leaders Newcastle United.

Neil’s side are one of the candidates to finish in the top two of the Championship this season, but their recent performances and results have been disappointing.

Norwich suffered an embarrassing 5-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion away from home at the American Express Community Stadium in the Championship last weekend.

The Canaries will face Leeds at Carrow Road in the league on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds head coach Monk has stated that Neil is not under pressure despite recent results.

“I don’t see Alex in a pressure situation,” Monk told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “Of course, expectation for that club and for him in this league, it’s always going to be there and I’ve said all along that for me they are one of the favourites to go up.

“They have one of the best squads in this league for sure and they probably expect better from themselves. That’s football. But I don’t see Alex under any pressure and if that talk is there then I think that’s silly.

“It’s a long, long season, there’s a lot of football to be played and in this league you can have ups and downs all the way and we have suffered that ourselves.

“We had a very difficult start, we have had a good run of form over the last couple of months but that can change very quickly within a week.”

Leeds will head into the match against Norwich on the back of a 2-0 victory over Burton Albion at Elland Road in the Championship.

The West Yorkshire outfit are currently ninth in the league table with 23 points from 15 matches.
