New Leeds United head coach Garry Monk is the first manager at the club to have a twitter feed he uses regularly to communicate with supporters.
While he is not drawn into any back and forth, he simple uses it as a tool to let fans know how he is feeling about the team and their progress.
Over the weekend he expressed his satisfaction at how his first pre-season with the Whites is going, ahead of their two pre-season friendly games next Wednesday and Saturday.
Yet despite Monk’s focus on the football itself, he ignored the elephant in the room – the sale of star midfielder Lewis Cook, who he had lobbied for to join his squad early instead of playing for England’s under-19s.
It is uncertain how much of the total fee for Cook that Leeds will get to spend this summer, and as to how much say if any, Monk had when it came to his departure.

Monk is clearly trying to think forwards, and move on regardless, but Cook’s exit was the topic Leeds United supporters really wanted to hear from him about.

There will likely come a time where Monk is willing to have his say on Cook’s exit, but he perhaps wisely decided social media was not the right platform for it.
For now supporters will have to wait and see what he does next and if the club can close any more deals.
