Garry Monk has sent a message to Leeds United fans explaining his exit from the club.
Writing a note via Twitter, Monk detailed the reasons behind his decision, commenting that he had not been able to agree a way to move forward with new owner Andrea Radrizzani.
Monk resigned from Leeds earlier on Thursday, with the club’s official website announcing his departure.
Leeds had an option to extend his one year contract but he asked them to, as he was not intending to sign a long term deal.
Departure… Leeds United manager Garry Monk
Monk’s comments put new owner Radrizzani under pressure, and the next appointment for the club is key.
The former Swansea boss presided over a strong season but it ended on a sour note with the club missing out on the play-offs, finishing in seventh position.
Monk’s work has made him a hot property, with clubs in the Premier League and Championship both rumoured to be keen on appointing him.
