Leeds United head coach discusses importance of level headed squad.
Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has told BBC Radio Leeds that he will not sign a player with a big ego.
Monk said an arrogant player would not fit in with his way of working and disrupt the harmony and focus he has instilled in the dressing room.
He insists he checks out players before bringing them on board, ensuring that there are no problems later down the line.

He said: “I don’t allow that. It’s part of the recruitment process, it’s part of the environment, the work that I do, an ego, no place for it.
“Confidence does [have a place] and arrogance in terms of confidence, but not ego. We have characters for sure, but at the right level. the players all buy into that.”

Leeds have put together a tight knit squad, and one which is playing as a team, rather than relying overly on individuals.
They are just one point off the play-offs, and the temptation will be perhaps to sign a big star who could tip them over the edge right into the promotion mix.
If that is their choice, Leeds won’t be recruiting a player which comes with a big ego attached who could disrupt all the good work the Whites have done so far and divide the dressing room.
