Garry Monk left Leeds United to join Middlesbrough earlier this summer.
Garry Monk has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 6th July, that it is obvious that Leeds United are a ‘massive club’ but he feels that Middlesbrough have great potential.
Monk left Leeds fans furious when he turned down a contract offer to take on a job at the Riverside Stadium instead.
And the 38-year-old admits that Leeds are a bigger side than Boro, but their immediate prospects for promotion weren’t as strong.

“I think it’s quite obvious that Leeds are a massive club, a huge club,” he said, when asked to compare Leeds and Middlesbrough.
“Middlesbrough are a big club in their own right. But it’s not about the size of the club, it’s about what you can do and what’s in front of you at each club.”
Monk guided Leeds into seventh place last season, and the Yorkshire side looked set to push on next term under his leadership.
However, his departure has left a lot of uncertainty around Elland Road – with the unproven Thomas Christiansen appointed as his replacement.
Middlesbrough, meanwhile, are considered to be among the favourites for automatic promotion from the Championship.
Boro are set to keep hold of the bulk of their squad following relegation, and Monk’s options with the North East side look very strong.
