The former Leeds United goalkeeper is said to be on trial at Birmingham City, alongside the ex West Bromwich Albion striker Evan Pierce.

Birmingham City manager Garry Monk is reportedly handing a second chance to Theo Richardson, little more than a year since the goalkeeper left Leeds United while under his watch.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Richardson – who signed for Manchester United upon exiting Leeds – is on trial with the Blues, alongside released West Bromwich Albion striker Evan Pierce.

Richardson was one of several promising goalkeepers on Leeds’ books during Monk’s one-year Elland Road reign, alongside England youth internationals Will Huffer and Harrison Male, not to mention the Whites’ current first choice Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

And it is probably unlikely that Monk had too much to do with the 19-year-old’s departure.

Incidentally, Leeds have been strongly linked with a move for Blues goalkeeper David Stockdale, who according to the Birmingham Mail was nowhere to be seen as Monk’s team returned for pre-season training this week.

Richardson and Pierce, who came through the ranks at Birmingham’s local rivals West Brom, are said to have recently trialled with Queens Park Rangers and Coventry City respectively.

Should Birmingham take a punt on the former Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion players?
