Leeds United edged out their Lancashire counterparts on Tuesday.

Leeds United manager Garry Monk has reacted on Twitter to his side’s crucial win over Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday.
Kyle Bartley grabbed an 86th-minute winner as Leeds edged out their Lancashire counterparts with a 2-1 victory at Elland Road.
It looked like being a case of same old story for the Whites, who took a second-half lead through substitute Chris Wood, but Marvin Emnes cancelled it out on 77 minutes.

But the big centre-back – on loan from Swansea City – rescued his side late on as United picked up their first home win of the season – and second in the Championship so far, following a 2-0 victory at Sheffield Wednesday last month.
With Preston beating Cardiff City 3-0, defeat would have seen Leeds slip to the bottom of the table, so there will be a big sense of relief for under-pressure Monk and his troops.

The 38-year-old took to Twitter afterwards to pay tribute to his boys’ “character and determination” to grind out the victory.
Leeds, now 17th in the table, face Cardiff City on Saturday in a game which will see Monk- a former Swansea manager – visit the home of his old club’s bitter rivals.
