Leeds United beat Atalanta 2-1 at Elland Road this afternoon?
Leeds manager Garry Monk
Leeds United ended their pre-season schedule with a 2-1 home win over Atalanta, giving the perfect preparation for the start of the season.
After playing a raft of games away from home, Leeds returned to the Elland Road pitch this afternoon and sent their fans home happy with a win over Atalanta, who finished 13th in Serie A last season.

Chris Wood put Leeds in front from the penalty spot after a handball inside the area, but Marco D’Alessandro hit back and equalised for the Italians.
However, Leeds did claim the win, as summer signing Kemar Roofe scored from close range to give Garry Monk his first Elland Road win as Leeds boss.

It’s now on to league action for Leeds, as they will travel down to Loftus Road next weekend to take on Queens Park Rangers, managed by former Leeds striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
After today’s result, Leeds boss Monk took to Twitter in order to send a message to supporters – and it’s fair to say he’s in buoyant mood this evening.

Monk admitted that he ‘can’t wait’ for the season to kick off next weekend, with many Leeds fans no doubt sharing that optimism after today’s victory.
Monk added that the win will give his side a huge boost ahead of what promises to be a ‘tough season’, with many big clubs looking for promotion to the Premier League.
