Leeds United manager Garry Monk has taken to Twitter in order to praise his side’s performance against Luton Town – and the club’s official Twitter account carried quotes from him raving about Tyler Denton.

After beating Fleetwood Town in the first round, Leeds were handed another away trip to lower-league opposition, as this time they headed down to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town.

In a close encounter, Leeds claimed a 1-0 win as youngster Tyler Denton smashed home a superb left footed strike from the edge of the area, arrowing the ball unto the top corner with the outside of his foot.

The Whites held on for the win and put their name in the hat for round three, as manager Monk looks to navigate a lengthy cup run this season.

Unsurprisingly, much of the conversation surrounding the game has revolved around youngster Denton, who enjoyed a dream debut for the club.

The 20-year-old left back was making his first appearance for the Leeds first team as Monk chose to rest Charlie Taylor, and Denton certainly impressed not only with his goal, but also with a composed display defensively.

After the game, manager Monk told the club’s official Twitter account that he thought Denton was ‘excellent’ against Luton, and felt the performance was a huge step forward for the defender.

Monk took to his own Twitter account later in the night, and was pleased to keep the momentum going in what he described as ‘a hard game’ against League Two side Luton.
