Leeds United’s second choice goalkeeper has not featured in the Championship this season at all.

Garry Monk has confirmed that Leeds United could be without Marco Silvestri for the rest of the season.

Silvestri has had to undergo an operation on a knee injury, which he picked up in training.

And Monk admits that he is disappointed to lose the Italian goalkeeper for such a lengthy period of time.

Silvestri has only played a covering role to Rob Green this season, with the England international becoming Leeds’ undisputed number one.

Silvestri has not featured for Leeds in the Championship this season, and he has only made six appearances across all competitions.

With Silvestri out, Bailey Peacock-Farrell looks the most likely candidate to step up to become Leeds’ main cover for Green.

Peacock-Farrell was handed a few first-team opportunities towards the end of last season, by Steve Evans, but he hasn’t featured this campaign at all.
