Leeds United’s Gaetano Berardi has been covering for Charlie Taylor recently.
Leeds United boss Garry Monk has told BBC Radio Leeds that Gaetano Berardi has done an incredible job covering for Charlie Taylor.
Taylor has been out injured since December, after damaging his Achilles.
The left-back was originally expected to be out for a few weeks, but his comeback has been problematic.
Taylor has been on the verge of a comeback for some time, but he just has not been able to return to Leeds’ training yet.
Berardi has been the man chosen to fill in for Taylor at left-back, despite being more comfortable on the right hand side of defence.
And Monk has been delighted with the way that Taylor has performed recently, suggesting that the Swiss international has become a key part of his team.
“Considering it’s not Bera’s natural position, I think he’s done an incredible job covering for Charlie there and improving along the way,” Monk said.
“Bera is one of those professionals who gets on with his job. You think he’s very quiet, but underneath there’s that edge that you need.”
Taylor is expected to return to Leeds training next week, after the Whites take on Ipswich Town on Saturday.
If Taylor does come through training unscathed, he could feature for Monk’s side when they take on Sheffield Wednesday in two weekends’ time.
