Leeds United lost against Barnsley in the Championship on Saturday evening.

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has told BBC Sport (19:58) that his side were not clinical enough defensively against Barnsley on Saturday evening.

The Whites failed to maintain their good run of form and went down 3-2 to Barnsley away from home in the Championship.

Monk’s side took the lead through Chris Wood at Oakwell in the 18th minute, but the home team staged a comeback to pick up all three points from the encounter despite another goal from the Leeds striker midway through the second period.

“I think men have to be clinical in both boxes and we weren’t clinical enough defensively, where we have been before,” Monk told BBC Sport (19:58).

“We were off our usual standard but only by a small percentage. We will take it on the chin and the loss does cut a bit deeper when you’ve been winning.”

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Oakwell in the Championship on Saturday evening, hosts Barnsley had 49% of the possession, took 15 shots of which five were on target, and earned five corners, according to BBC Sport.

Visitors Leeds had 51% of the possession, took 11 shots of which four were on target, and earned 11 corners, according to BBC Sport.

The Whites will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Nottingham Forest at Elland Road in the Championship.
