Leeds United have signed Kyle Bartley on a season-long loan deal from Swansea City.
Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has explained to the club’s official website what Kyle Bartley will bring to the team.
The 25-year-old defender has moved to Leeds on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Swansea City.
Bartley worked with Monk at Swansea, and the Leeds head coach has explained what the fans can expect from the defender.
“Kyle has worked with me and he knows how I work, so that helps,” Monk told Leeds’s official website. “I think he’s at a stage of his career where he wants to prove himself and try and fight for a place. He’s big, he’s strong and he’s a very good defender.
“He’s a good leader, he talks very well, he’s a good organiser and a good communicator. All of those things will help the squad.”
Bartley featured in just five Premier League matches for Swansea last season. The defender created one chance, had a pass accuracy of 79%, and won 10 headers, one dribble and six tackles.
While some Leeds fans will be concerned with the 25-year-old’s lack of regular first-team action last season, they should be optimistic mainly because he is Monk’s signing.
Monk clearly rates the defender highly, which is why he has signed him on a season-long loan deal.
Leeds endured a disappointing season in the Championship in 2015-16 and failed to finish in the top 10 of the table. The West Yorkshire outfit will be aiming for a playoff spot next season.
