Leeds United will face Wigan Athletic away from home in the Championship this weekend.
Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has explained to The Yorkshire Evening Post the impact the fans have made on the team.
The West Yorkshire outfit will return to action this weekend when they take on Wigan Athletic away from home in the Championship.
The match against Wigan at the DW Stadium on Sunday afternoon will be the Whites’ final game of the campaign.
Leeds’s chances of finishing in the top six of the Championship have now evaporated, and head coach Monk has praised the fans for their unwavering support to the team.
The former Swansea City manager has also made it clear that he will field his strongest available team against Wigan this weekend.
“It’s a game we have to go into to win,” Monk told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “We’ve had that mentality all season and this one’s for our fans, 100 per cent.
“They’ve been unbelievable with us this season. I can’t speak highly enough of them and they’ve pushed these players onto higher levels than we probably thought they could get to this early. It’s made everything positive.”
Leeds have some of the best fans in England, and there have been occasions when there have been over 30,000 fans at Elland Road for matches this season.
It must be a huge disappointment for the Elland Road faithful to see their team end up outside the playoffs yet again, but they should remain optimistic about next season.
