Rob Green has been one of a number of standout performers for Leeds United this season.

Leeds fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news that has been confirmed on the club’s official website that Rob Green will remain at Elland Road for another year, while Garry Monk also spoke to BBC Radio Leeds about the stopper’s contribution.
According to the Whites’ official website, the 37-year-old has triggered an appearance-related clause in the contract that he signed when he joined the club last summer.
And speaking after Leeds’ clash with Brighton on Saturday which saw the side take a giant step towards securing their play-off spot with a 2-0 win over the automatic-promotion chasers – during which the veteran made a couple of brilliant stops to preserve the clean sheet – Monk outlined just how deserving the former England stopper is of the fresh terms.
“He’s been excellent along with all of them,” he told BBC Radio Leeds following the victory over the Seagulls.

“Greeny’s been tremendous, I brought him in: number one, because I think he’s a good goalkeeper and he was going to help us and number two as well, just the way he is, his experience and how he is as a professional, the example to set and he’s doing very well and he deserves that.
“We’re all very happy for him and delighted for him, he’s been important to us this season and he’ll continue to be important to the club in the future.”

Unsurprisingly, the news has prompted a lot of reaction from the supporters, especially in the wake of the Brighton game. Green’s arrival last summer arguably received a somewhat lukewarm response, but barring a couple of exceptions, he has been one of the most reliable performers within the Whites squad this term.
His recent form has been particularly brilliant, so unsurprisingly, news of his contract extension has received an overwhelmingly positive reaction amongst the fans.
