Leeds United beat Preston North End 4-1 in their most recent outing.

Leeds United boss Garry Monk has joked to BBC Radio Leeds that he is ashamed of Kyle Bartley, for having to receive oxygen on the pitch.

Bartley was kicked by Jermaine Beckford, during Leeds’ win over Preston North End.

Beckford was sent off for his role in the incident, and Monk has joked that Bartley wouldn’t be a proper centre-back unless he had to receive treatment during the game.

“He’s just a bit groggy. I said to him you’re not a proper centre-half unless you get oxygen on the pitch,” Monk said.

“I was a bit ashamed of him getting it on the pitch in full view to be honest, but we have to accept that. They’re a little bit softer nowadays.”

Bartley was rock solid once again during Leeds’ 4-1 win at Deepdale, which has lifted them up to fifth in the Championship table.

The Whites were dominant against Preston, as they continued their strong run of form.

Leeds opened the scoring through Kemar Roofe, before Hadi Sacko got on the scoresheet.

Although Marnick Vermijl did pull one back for Preston, they were unable to get back into the match, with Souleymane Doukara and Pablo Hernandez both getting on the scoresheet to ensure that the Whites took the three points in impressive fashion.
