Leeds United are currently in 14th place in the Championship table.

Garry Monk has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he expects his Leeds United squad to continue to make mistakes.

Monk only took charge at Leeds last summer, and the former Swansea City boss does not feel his team are fully adapted to his style yet.

Leeds threw away a lead in the last minute against Wigan Athletic on Tuesday, with Shaun MacDonald netting from a corner.

And Monk said, in response to that goal: : “What are we into the season? Two months I’ve had with this group. I know we had pre-season as well but the expectation – I want it to be now, I want it all now and I don’t want to waste time but I understand and realise what it takes for a squad to develop, for a way of playing to develop and for an understanding of how to win games in a better way.

“This group are getting there. They’re going to make mistakes along the way but we have to allow them to do that and grow. We have to.

“It doesn’t happen overnight and they have to come through these experiences to come out the other side. We have to understand that, which I do – as long as we learn from these mistakes.”

Leeds’ late slip-up against Wigan has caused great frustration at Elland Road, as it has brought to an end a strong run of form at home.

Leeds went into the match on the back of four straight victories in front of their own fans, but they could not add another three points to their tally against the Latics.

The Whites are now in 14th place in the Championship table, but they are only four points back from the play off places.

Leeds are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
