Garry Monk has still not been offered a new contract by Leeds United.

Garry Monk’s comments to BBC Radio Leeds suggest that he is already making transfer plans at Leeds United.

Monk’s future at Elland Road is far from certain, given that his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 38-year-old is yet to be offered fresh terms by the Yorkshire club.

However, Monk has suggested that he has formulated a plan, which could see Leeds earn promotion this season.

“In terms of [going up], I have my views on what the squad needs to give itself the best chance,” he said.

“Until I sit down with the owners to discuss what their plans are, and agree on all of that…. I think it’s very clear in my mind what is needed. Having worked with this group every day, and what is needed to add in terms of quality in certain areas.

“For sure, if done correctly, the club can give itself the best opportunity of promotion next season.”

Monk’s comments prove that he believes that Leeds need an injection of quality through new arrivals, if they are to achieve promotion next term.

Leeds were desperately close to sealing a play off place this time around, but ultimately fell short.

The Whites had occupied a play off spot for much of the season, but a poor run of form of late has seen them slip into seventh place.

Leeds’ final match of the season comes against Wigan Athletic on Sunday.
