Leeds United were hoping to land Sergi Canos in January. Tonight, they face the Brentford winger.

Leeds United ace Pablo Hernandez has looked ahead to tonight’s game against Brentford by telling The Yorkshire Post that Sergi Canos – a former target for the Whites – is a big danger.
The Whites head to West London this evening to take on Brentford having lost 1-0 away at Reading on Saturday evening, and will be looking to get back to winning ways.
Saturday’s defeat ended Leeds’ seven-game unbeaten run, and manager Monk will be keen to start another run of results as we enter the business end of the season.
Leeds are still on course for a play-off place, but face a tricky trip to Griffin Park this evening, where Monk will be wary of the threat posed by one of his January transfer targets.
As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post in January, Leeds were hoping to snap up Norwich City winger Sergi Canos on loan with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season.
That move didn’t go through, and whilst Leeds signed another Spanish winger in Alfonso Pedraza, Canos moved back to former club Brentford in a permanent move having been frozen out at Norwich.
Brentford’s Sergi Canos celebrates scoring
Since returning to his former loan club, Canos has notched three goals and one assist in just 11 appearance for Brentford, with the 20-year-old beginning to settle in again at Griffin Park.
Now, ahead of his meeting with Leeds, playmaker Pablo Hernandez – speaking to the Yorkshire Post – has praised the former Barcelona youngster, naming him, as well as fellow Spaniard Jota, as the main threats for Brentford, with Monk no doubt preferring that he had Canos to choose in his side, rather than going up against him.
“I have seen some of their last games and they are a team that play some good football,” said Hernandez. “I know some of their players, two or three Spanish players in Sergi Canos and Jota, and they are quality players. But we know it is not only the next game that will be difficult. All of the games are difficult now because Leeds United are one of the top teams in the table. For the other teams, that is a motivation,” he added.
