Leeds United have won three on the bounce in all competitions.
Garry Monk has told TV Yorkshire that there has been a strong belief within his Leeds United squad since the day he took the job.
Leeds go into Saturday’s visit of Ipswich Town on something of a high after winning their last three games in all competitions – two Championship victories, followed by Tuesday’s 1-0 League Cup win at home to Blackburn Rovers.
Nine days ago, Monk’s side had won one in six Championship outings, but now it is three in eight and it certainly seems that the Whites are growing more and more confident with each and every win which comes their way.
Speaking to TV Yorkshire ahead of their visit of Ipswich, the 38-year-old was quizzed on his side’s collective belief increasing, but the Leeds manager says that his troops have been a confident bunch since day of his spell in Yorkshire.
He said: “It’s belief. I can honestly say from day one that I’ve seen this group have it. I’ve never seen them lose it, even in the difficult start to the season which we had. All I saw was more determination when we didn’t get the results we had. We didn’t feel sorry for ourselves and I’ve seen that all the way through.”
One man who certainly seems to have experienced a surge in belief over the past week is Chris Wood, who has found the net in each of the three wins in this good spell.
But only five teams have conceded less goals than Ipswich in the Championship this season, so the New Zealand striker – who has six goals from 10 in all competitions – will need to be at his best against Mick McCarthy’s side this weekend.
