Leeds United and Barnsley go head-to-head this weekend.

Leeds United manager Garry Monk has been speaking to reporters about his injury issues ahead of the weekend clash against Barnsley, with his comments published on the Whites’ official Twitter account.

Leeds are flying high in the Championship this season and find themselves third in the table heading into Saturday’s clash.

A win against Barnsley is definitely on the cards if Monk’s side play to their full potential, but they will not be at full strength.

“The squad is looking good,” Monk said. “Pontus Jansson is suspended and Charlie Taylor is still unavailable.

“Charlie’s inflammation has gone down. We need to build him back up and get him back out on the pitches soon.

“Liam Cooper still has a bit of soreness; he will be touch and go for Saturday.”

Considering how well Luke Ayling did in the centre of the defence in the absence of Cooper against Derby County, it would not be the end of the world if the latter missed out.

That said, Leeds will be desperate to maintain their great recent form and ensure there are no regrets come the end of the campaign, meaning they need all the players they can get at their disposal.

If Leeds keep winning they will pull away from the chasing pack below the play-off places, which was something only the most optimistic of Whites fan envisaged at the start of the season.
