Leeds United won their first game in the Championship under Garry Monk today, at the home of Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
Goals from strikers Marcus Antonsson and Chris Wood proved enough for the Yorkshire side – after plenty of changes were made to the team for the fixture.

Monk made wholesale changes across the midfield with one standout decision that which saw Stuart Dallas left out of the squad entirely for the game.
Speaking after the match with BBC Radio Leeds the gaffer explained just why Dallas had been dropped:
“I had a chat with Stuey and quite naturally he has had a long summer. It was big emotionally and physically for him.

“I don’t think he is at full speed just yet. We’ve got a plan for him, to work for him and get him back to full fitness.”
There is no doubt that Dallas has had a poor start to the season with Leeds. The winger has looked off the pace early on and after the summer he has had it is certainly understandable.
Dallas represented the Northern Ireland at the European Championships in France this summer and on top of that he also got married – so it has been a busy time for the player.
Clearly it has impacted his football early on and Monk will be hoping to clear out any cobwebs in the coming weeks.
